2020 Polls: I’ll concede defeat after independent audit of results – Mahama

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) John Mahama says he’ll accept the results of the 2020 presidential election if the Electoral Commission conducts an independent audit of the results.

Mr. Mahama and his party have rejected the results of the December 7 polls describing the election as flawed.

According to the NDC, their analysis of the pink sheets available to them shows clearly that Mr Mahama won the elections.

In an interview with Voice of America(VOA) Mr. Mahama showed a just cause for the NDC’s position, adding that the issues raised cannot be swept under the carpet.

“We are currently doing a forensic audit of all the constituencies first to establish what happened and then confirm the figures that we have. Because this case might end up in court…I don’t know, I cannot mention anything for now but we are doing an audit and based on that we’ll take whatever decision we need to take.

“But I think that in the interest of the more than 6million people who voted for me, I must uphold our democracy and hold the Electoral Commission to a higher standard and hold this government to a higher standard in terms of our democracy. The way President Akufo Addo and the EC have conducted this elections is a dent on our democratic credentials as a government. And so with my principles as a democrat, I can’t be seen to be sweeping it under the carpet and letting it go.”

Ex-President Mahama added: “I think that we must bring closure to this by seeing exactly where the issues are. If an independent audit is done by the EC, they’ll bring somebody in to crunch the numbers do an independent audit why not, I’ll be the first person to concede and walk away. But as long as that is not done and I know that there was a deliberate attempt to subvert the will of the people in favour of the incumbent it will be wrong for me in terms of our democratic practices to just leave it because we’ll not learn the lessons of this election. I think we must learn the lessons of this election so that we don’t repeat it in future one.”

We will not accept the results of a Flawed Election”Mahama warns EC

Former President John Mahama has reiterated that neither he nor the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which he is leading into the 7 December 2020 polls, will accept the results of flawed elections.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, 24 September 2020 about the party’s concerns with the credibility of the provisional voter register as it goes through the exhibition process, the flagbearer of the NDC said: “We in the NDC have exhibited restraint at all times in this electoral process”.

“Even now, we are committed to doing so.

“But, let me serve notice once again that we’ll not accept results of a flawed election”, Mr Mahama warned.

“We will certainly not look on, neither will we shirk our civic responsibility and allow the EC, whether by ill intent or sheer incompetence, to usurp the people’s mandate in the December 7 polls.

“The EC must take immediate steps to rectify and sanitise the register and re-exhibit it, to afford the voting public and all stakeholders, an opportunity to verify their particulars in the voter register before it is finalised”, he said.

He told party supporters that: “This moment demands of us to act with patriotic zeal to preserve the zeal and stability of our beloved nation Ghana”.

“The true will of the people must triumph”, Mr Mahama noted.

Both Mr Mahama and his running mate, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, suspended their separate campaigns a couple of days ago over concerns of a raft of anomalies detected by the party with regard to the voter roll.

Bawumia Opens Fire On NDC

Bawumia Opens Fire On NDC

Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a penchant for opposing anything good for the country, especially when it is being proposed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said the posture of the NDC elements shows clearly that they do not have the country’s welfare at heart and are only interested in propaganda and how they can capture power and turn round to mismanage everything.

The Vice-President ‘opened fire’ in Takoradi in the Western Region on Tuesday when he cut the sod for the commencement of work on the first ever interchange in the regional capital.

“The NDC has a trademark in opposing everything. Any good initiative we bring out, they oppose it. First, they say it is impossible and then when we do it, they say they can do it better,” he said.

He said every time the NPP administration attempted to implement massive projects that would benefit the country, the NDC would vehemently oppose the implementation but would come later to claim they could do it better.

“They opposed the Sinohydro deal, but we are giving the Ghanaian people infrastructure through that. They opposed Free SHS and said it was impossible, but we have successfully implemented that, and now they say they can do it better,” he said.

“The construction of the PTC Interchange fits into the government’s programme of improving the road infrastructure of Sekondi-Takoradi and to modernize the twin city,” he added.

The Vice-President said “in line with the government’s agenda to ensure inclusive and accelerated economic development, we have focused our efforts on the first term in office to provide infrastructure for all.”

He pointed out that “the NDC did not understand the Sinohydro deal because it was the first time such a transaction was being proposed and introduced in Ghana and the opposition party referred to it as a ‘419’ initiative.”

“Our approach to the infrastructure development of Ghana has been two folds: first, to provide for the infrastructure needs of the poor and deprived communities for services such as water, toilets, clinics and electricity. Second, to provide for the broader infrastructure needs of the economy at the macro-level to drive economic growth, such as ports, major highways and inner city roads and bridges,” he explained.

More Opposition
He said “on the Free SHS, for instance, the NDC said if they had two billion cedis they would not have spent it on education. But the NPP persevered and made it happen. They said the same about NABCO that it was a hoax, but we made it happen.”

“They opposed ‘one constituency one ambulance’, but every constituency has an ambulance; they opposed ‘one village one dam’, but the farmers and chiefs in the north are commending the government; they opposed one ‘district one factory’, but we are building the factories, and now they say they can do better,” Dr. Bawumia fired.

He also recounted how the NDC opposed the Zipline medical drone service which is currently serving a useful purpose, adding, “They even opposed the Zipline medical drone service and told people that we would use the drones to take pictures of them in their bathrooms, but we have all seen the impact of the Zipline drone in providing emergency medical service to remote parts of the country.”

“The NDC also opposed the introduction of the digital addressing system to produce digital addresses for every location in Ghana,” he said.

“The NDC opposed the idea by the government to allow final-year students of SHS and JHS to go to school and prepare to take their respective final examination, but now the children are taking their exams. They opposed it and said we wanted the children to die. But by the grace of God, the SHS students have completed and our children are writing their BECE papers,” he fired again, adding “that is their trademark; everything good, they oppose it. And then they will turn around later and want to be a part of it,” he said.

NPP Focused
He said the NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo would not be deterred by the NDC’s ‘unwarranted’ opposition to everything good that they were doing and they would press hard to get Ghanaians the best.

“Our thinking about infrastructure for all includes all the amenities that people need in order to unleash the potentials for growth in their communities, constituencies and districts, and ultimately improve the conditions of everyday living.

“These are needed to support industrial growth and other supporting economic activities, especially in the urban areas (such as the Takoradi-Sekondi metropolis),” he added.

Open authorities… who plunder the open handbag will be rebuffed appropriately,” he guaranteed.

Give NDC order

At a similar occasion, National Chairman of the gathering, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo asked Ghanaians to give the National Democratic Congress (NDC) the gesture in the pending general races.

Mr. Ampofo said the administering New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its pioneer, Nana Akufo-Addo, are driving the nation into huge retrogression.

As per Mr. Ampofo, the 2020 survey is a basic choice to rescue the retreating financial advancement of the nation.

He included that it will take another NDC government to reestablish the increases lost under the NPP organization.

Ken Agyapong Threatens To Expose How John Mahama Sleeps With Women In Ibrahim Mahama’s House

Loudmouth MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, and self-appointed prosecutor for bedroom affairs, Kennedy Agyapong has made another bizarre claim, alleging that the NDC Flagbearer, John Mahama has been sleeping with women in his brother, Ibrahim Mahama’s house.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong , stated on the Seat show that he has a lot of dossier on the former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress and would release them if the NDC wants to play dirty politics.
“Mahama went to have sex in Ibrahim Mahama’s house…if they (NDC) are not gentle and want to play dirty, they will see what I will do to them”, he warned.
It will be recalled that this is not the first time the Assin Central MP is making such a ridiculous claim. A few weeks ago he alleged that Kumawood actress Tracey Boakye was using a video of a sexual encounter she had with former President John Mahama to blackmail him, a claim which was vehemently denied by the actress.

Mr Agyapong failed to provide evidence after he was publicly dared by the actress to do so. It is unclear if the lawmaker has incontrovertible evidence in this instance or is just running his mouth as usual.

Government’s Sudden Interest In Infrastructure And Deceptive -Mahama

The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as surprising and deceptive, the sudden interest of President Akufo-Addo in infrastructural projects.

John Mahama addressing chiefs and elders of Tsito in the Volta Region accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of cancelling and abandoning various projects initiated by his administration.

His comment follows Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s claim that no government in the history of Ghana’s Fourth Republic has initiated more infrastructural projects than the Akufo-Addo government.

He described the record as “second to none, with verifiable data to back up the claim”.

This declaration made at a town hall meeting held in Accra on Tuesday, 18 August 2020, has renewed jabs and counter-jabs; with the NDC accusing the NPP of refusing to give credit to the erstwhile administration for projects commenced and completed during its time in office.

Among other things, they have also accused government of touting their projects as personal achievements when there are documentary evidence to prove otherwise.

Already, the former President has thrown a challenge to his successor for a debate on the performance record of their respective governments, especially in the infrastructural development sector.

Mr Mahama said he is poised to compare records of both administrations to clearly assess who had done more for the country even though the incumbent government had earlier described infrastructural development as unnecessary, ahead of the 2016 elections.

This challenge has however been rejected by government with the Deputy Information Minister, Pius Hadzie calling it pointless.

But emphasising the stance of his party with regards to development, the former president said a new NDC government will devote its early years in power to completing abandoned projects before initiating new ones.

He urged electorates to save the future of the country by voting massively for the NDC in the December 7 polls

We won’t engage in campaign of insults, name-calling

“Children are watching, listening and copying and it is important we serve as good role models. The book of Philippians assures me that the God who began this mission will bring it to a fruitful conclusion,’’ he said.

He was speaking during a courtesy call on the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) and the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) to officially introduce his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang to the clergy.

State institutions

He criticised the Akufo-Addo led administration for presiding over what he described as the destruction and politicisation of independent institutions in the country.

According to him, Ghana no longer held the enviable position as the shining star of Africa in terms of independence and integrity of democratic institutions.

Mr Mahama called on Ghanaians to be united and resolute to save the country adding, “we cannot sit silently and look on as our nation slips towards decadence.”
“It is not about John Mahama, it is about Ghana,” he added.

The issue of state institutions or independent institutions being accused of dancing to the tune of the government has been a major campaign message for opposition parties.

The suspicion of state institutions doing the bidding of the government has been exploited by both sides of the political divide.

During the 2012 election petition, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) then in opposition accused the judiciary and the Electoral Commission (EC) of being biased in favour of the NDC which had then been declared victors of the 2012 elections.- #GhanaVotes2020
